BSF Recruitment 2026 — Constable, SI, Physical Standards, Salary & Life at the Border

The Border Security Force guards India's borders with Pakistan (3,323 km) and Bangladesh (4,156 km) — making it one of the world's largest border guarding forces. Like CRPF, the two most accessible entry points for direct civilian candidates are the Constable GD via SSC GD exam and Sub Inspector via SSC CPO exam.

Constable GD Entry

SSC conducts this exam centrally for all CAPFs. Vacancies for BSF, CRPF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, SSF, and Rifleman (Assam Rifles) are all released together.

Written Exam (CBT)

The SSC GD Computer Based Test covers:

Air Wing — BSF operates Mi-17 helicopters, Avro aircraft, and UAVs. Pilots join through deputation from Indian Air Force and Army Aviation. Ground technical staff for air wing are recruited directly.
