SSC GD (General Duty) Constable recruitment is one of the largest single-exam recruitments in the country — often drawing over a crore of applicants for vacancies in CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, NIA, SSF, and Rifleman in Assam Rifles. The selection involves a computer-based test, followed by physical tests, medical examination, and document verification.

Unlike desk-job recruitment exams, the physical stages in SSC GD are non-negotiable — failing any physical test means disqualification regardless of CBT score.

FAQ

Is there any minimum educational qualification for SSC GD?

10th standard (Matriculation) pass from a recognized Board is required. This is the same as SSC MTS. No higher qualification is necessary, though graduates can apply.

What happens if I fail the PET but scored very high in CBT?

You are disqualified from that recruitment cycle. CBT score alone does not guarantee selection — all physical stages must be cleared. There is no exemption from PET/PST regardless of written score.

Can I choose which force (BSF, CRPF, etc.) I get posted to?

You fill force preferences during application. Actual allotment depends on your merit rank, the forces you listed, and vacancies available in each force per your category.

How often is SSC GD Constable recruitment held?

SSC GD recruitment is held periodically — not every year. Major cycles have been conducted in 2018, 2021, 2023-24. The frequency depends on government manpower requirements for the CAPF forces.
