RRB NTPC Admit Card: Zone-Wise Download and Call Letter Guide
How to download RRB NTPC admit card from your zone website, verify details, handle common problems, and prepare for CBT 1 and CBT 2 exam days.
The RRB NTPC admit card process is the most decentralised of all major government exams. There is no single website to download it from. Instead, each Railway Recruitment Board zone releases admit cards independently on its own website, often on different dates. This creates confusion every cycle, with candidates checking the wrong zone's website or panicking because one zone released the call letter but theirs has not.
Let me sort this out properly.
Understanding the Zone System
India has 21 Railway Recruitment Boards, each covering specific geographical areas. When you applied for RRB NTPC, you selected one RRB zone. Your admit card will be released by that specific zone only.

When Are Admit Cards Released?
RRB NTPC admit cards are released in phases since the exam itself is conducted in multiple phases across weeks or months:
- Phase-wise release: Your admit card appears 10-15 days before your specific phase/date
- City intimation slip: Released first (tells you your exam city but not the exact centre)
- Admit card/e-Call Letter: Released 4-7 days before your exam date (tells you the exact centre)
The City Intimation Slip
Before the actual admit card, RRB releases a "City Intimation Slip" or "Exam City and Date Information." This tells you:
- Your exam date
- Your exam city (not the specific venue)
- Your shift (morning/afternoon/evening)
This is NOT the admit card. You still need to download the actual e-Call Letter separately once it is available.
Download Steps
Step 1: Go to your specific RRB zone website (from the table above) Step 2: Look for "Download E-Call Letter" or "CBT Admit Card" link. It is usually prominently displayed on the homepage during the download window. Step 3: Enter your Registration Number and Date of Birth Step 4: Complete any captcha verification Step 5: Your e-Call Letter will display. Verify all details carefully. Step 6: Download and take at least 3 colour printoutsWhat the RRB NTPC Admit Card Contains

CBT 1 vs CBT 2 Admit Cards

Higher difficulty level. You will need to download separate admit cards for CBT 1 and CBT 2. The CBT 2 admit card will only be available after CBT 1 results are declared and you qualify.
Common Problems and Solutions
"My zone website is down"
RRB zone websites have notoriously poor server infrastructure. They crash frequently during admit card download periods. Try these strategies:
- Access during off-peak hours (early morning 6-7 AM or late night 11 PM-1 AM)
- Use a different browser
- Try from a mobile data connection instead of broadband (sometimes ISP-level caching causes issues)
- Clear browser cache and cookies before attempting
"City intimation shows a city I did not select"
RRB allots cities based on your preference, but if your preferred cities are full, you may be sent to a nearby city. This is final and cannot be changed. However, RRB provides a basic travel reimbursement to SC/ST candidates who have to travel to a different city.
"Exam date conflicts with another exam"
Unfortunately, RRB does not allow date changes. If your NTPC exam date clashes with another exam, you have to choose one. File a written request with RRB for consideration, but success is rare.
"Photo/Signature not visible"
Download and print anyway. Carry extra passport photographs (4-5) and sign the attendance sheet at the centre. Most RRB centres handle this smoothly since it is a widespread issue.

RRB NTPC Exam Day Flow
A typical exam day at an RRB NTPC centre:
| Time | Activity |
|---|---|
| Reporting time | Gate opens (90-120 min before exam) |
| +30 min | Entry verification begins |
| +60 min | Candidates seated, biometric capture starts |
| +80 min | Systems activated, login credentials displayed |
| +90 min | Instructions shown on screen (mock session) |
| Exam start | CBT begins |
| Exam end | Candidate signs attendance, exits |
The Biometric Process
RRB uses thumb impression biometrics at most centres. Your thumb impression is captured at:
- Entry to the exam hall
- At your computer workstation before exam start
- After exam completion (at some centres)
If biometric capture fails repeatedly, the invigilator will note it and proceed with manual identification. Dry or scarred fingerprints can cause issues — moisturise your hands the night before.
Zone-Specific Quirks
Different RRB zones sometimes have slightly different processes:
RRB Mumbai: Known for strict timing — gates close exactly at the printed cutoff time RRB Kolkata: Sometimes allows entry up to 10 minutes after gate closing (but do not count on this) RRB Chennai: Often conducts exam in three shifts instead of two RRB Guwahati: Centre locations may be in remote areas — scout the location beforehandKeeping Track of Updates
RRB NTPC admit card releases, phase-wise scheduling, and zone-wise updates are tracked at sarkarinaukri.in. Given the fragmented nature of RRB zone websites, having a single consolidated source saves significant time and reduces the risk of missing your download window.
The RRB NTPC admit card process is more complex than other exams, but it follows a predictable pattern. Know your zone, download early, verify everything, and show up prepared. The exam is hard enough — do not let logistics add to the challenge.
