Multi-URL QR Code — Smart Routing Based on Rules
Create a multi-URL QR code that routes scanners to different links based on location, language, time, or device. Free at QRMax.
A multi-URL QR code sends scanners to different destinations based on rules — device type, geographic location, language, time of day, or scan count. One QR, multiple experiences. Create one at QRMax.
What It Does
The QR redirects through QRMax's smart routing engine. Based on the conditions you set, each scanner lands on the most relevant URL — automatically and in real time.
Common Use Cases
| Use Case | Example |
|---|---|
| International campaigns | Route US users to .com, UK to .co.uk, DE to .de |
| App downloads | iOS to App Store, Android to Google Play |
| Time-based promotions | Morning menu vs. dinner menu |
| A/B testing | Split traffic between two landing pages |
| Language routing | Show content in the scanner's device language |
How to Create a Multi-URL QR Code
- Choose "Multi-URL" type — Open QRMax and select multi-URL / smart routing.
- Set up routing rules — Define conditions (country, device, language, time) and assign a URL for each.
- Customize & download — Brand the QR and set a default fallback URL, then export.
Practical Tips
- Always set a fallback URL — If no rules match, the fallback ensures every scanner reaches a valid destination.
- Start simple — Begin with 2-3 rules and expand as you analyze scan data.
- Use for A/B testing — Route 50% of scans to page A and 50% to page B to test which converts better.
What routing conditions are available?
QRMax supports routing by country/region, device type (iOS/Android/desktop), browser language, time of day/day of week, and scan count limits.
Can I see which rule triggered for each scan?
Yes. QRMax analytics show which destination each scan was routed to, so you can evaluate rule performance.
Is there a limit to how many URLs I can route to?
No hard limit. Add as many rules and destinations as your campaign requires.
