QR Codes for Weddings — RSVP, Directions, Photos, and Registry

My friend spent $3,200 on wedding invitations in 2024. Calligraphy, letterpress, hand-assembled. Beautiful. She also included a separate card with a URL for RSVPs that was 47 characters long. The response rate on that card was abysmal — people couldn't be bothered to type it.

A QR code would have cost nothing extra and solved the problem completely.

On the Invitation: RSVP

This is the highest-value use case. A QR code on the RSVP card (or on the invitation itself) that links directly to your online RSVP form.

What to encode:

• Link to your wedding website RSVP page (The Knot, Zola, Joy, or your own site)
• A Google Form for a simpler DIY approach
• A pre-addressed email link with subject line pre-filled

Keep the code at 2.5-3cm minimum. Most invitation envelopes can accommodate this on an insert card.

Directions and Venue Details

Guests scan, their photos automatically upload. By the end of the night, you have 200+ candid photos from every angle, every moment, without hiring a second photographer.

Frame it nicely. Print the code at 8-10cm for easy scanning from a few feet away.

Gift Registry

A QR code on the invitation insert linking to your registry saves guests from:

1. Guessing which registry platform you're on
2. Typing a URL on their phone
3. Searching for your names across multiple sites

If you have registries on multiple platforms (Amazon, Crate & Barrel, Zola), link to your wedding website's registry page that lists all of them.

Table Settings and Place Cards

Getting creative with table-level QR codes:

• Menu card QR — links to the full menu with allergen information and ingredient sourcing
• Place card QR — each guest's place card has a code linking to a personal note from the couple ("We're so glad you're here, Aunt Martha. You were the first person to welcome Sarah to the family.")
• Table number QR — links to a trivia quiz about the couple for entertainment during cocktail hour

• Print as SVG-sourced — ask your printer for vector output so the code stays sharp at any size
• Include a tiny text URL as backup below the QR code for the one uncle who refuses to scan things
