Every dynamic QR code created with QRMax comes with built-in analytics. This guide walks you through the dashboard, explains each metric, and shows you how to use the data to improve your campaigns.

Dashboard Overview

The QRMax analytics dashboard shows data for all your dynamic QR codes in one place. You can view aggregate stats or drill into individual codes.

Using Analytics for Campaigns

Compare placements: Create separate dynamic QR codes for each placement (poster A vs poster B, store 1 vs store 2). Compare scan counts to determine which locations drive the most engagement. Track time-based performance: Monitor the scan rate chart to see if engagement is growing, flat, or declining. A spike after a social media post tells you cross-channel promotion works. Optimize by device: If 80% of scans come from iPhone, ensure your landing page is optimized for Safari. Check how the page loads on both platforms. Geographic insights: If you're running a local campaign but seeing scans from other cities, your code may have been shared online — which could be a good thing or a problem, depending on your goals.

Exporting Data

Export scan data as CSV for external analysis or reporting:

  1. Navigate to the QR code or campaign you want to export
  2. Set the date range
  3. Click Export CSV
  4. Open in Excel, Google Sheets, or any analytics tool
The export includes timestamp, location, device type, and browser for each scan event.

Need to include analytics charts in a PDF report? Take screenshots and compile them with MyPDF.

Organizing with Folders and Tags

As your QR code library grows, organization becomes critical:

  • Create folders for different campaigns, locations, or departments
  • Tag QR codes with consistent naming: spring-2026, store-nyc, product-launch
  • Archive inactive codes instead of deleting them — preserves historical data

Setting Up Scan Alerts

Configure notifications to stay informed:

Alert TypeWhen to Use
First scanKnow immediately when a new code goes live
Daily summaryOngoing campaigns with steady activity
Threshold alertTrigger when scans exceed or drop below a number
Anomaly detectionUnusual scan pattern (potential security issue)

How long is analytics data retained?

QRMax retains scan analytics for the lifetime of your account. Historical data is never deleted unless you explicitly remove a QR code.

Can I share analytics with my team?

Yes. Invite team members to your QRMax workspace with viewer or editor roles. Viewers can see analytics without modifying QR codes.

How accurate is the location data?

Location is based on IP geolocation, which is accurate to the city level in most cases. It's not GPS-precise — you'll see "New York" rather than a specific street address.
