Need to censor faces, license plates, or sensitive data in a photo? The MyPDF Pixelate Image tool applies mosaic pixelation to selected areas or the entire image — completely in your browser.

How to Pixelate an Image

  1. Upload your image (JPG, PNG, WebP, or BMP).
  2. Select the area to pixelate and adjust the pixel block size.
  3. Download the censored image instantly.

Pixelation vs. Blur Comparison

Color fillHighestNoComplete removal

Practical Tips

  • Use larger pixel blocks (20-40 px) for stronger censoring — small blocks can sometimes be reverse-engineered.
  • Pixelate before sharing on social media to protect the privacy of bystanders or minors in photos.
  • Save as PNG to avoid JPG compression artifacts that could partially smooth the pixelation.

Can pixelation be reversed?

Unlike blur, pixelation permanently destroys the underlying detail. With a sufficiently large block size, the original content cannot be recovered.

How big should the pixel blocks be?

For faces, use at least 15-20 px blocks. For text, 10-15 px is usually enough. Test by zooming in to verify the content is unreadable.
