Practical Tips
- Use SVG for print. SVG barcodes scale to any size without losing sharpness, making them ideal for labels and packaging.
- Test with a scanner. Always scan the generated barcode with a physical scanner or the Barcode Decode tool to verify it reads correctly before printing.
- Maintain quiet zones. Leave sufficient white space on both sides of the barcode. Cropping too close can prevent scanners from reading it.
Which format should I choose?
Use EAN-13 or UPC-A for retail products, Code 128 for shipping and logistics, and Code 39 for internal asset tracking. When in doubt, Code 128 is the most versatile.
Can I generate barcodes in bulk?
Upload a CSV or text list with one value per line and the tool generates a barcode for each entry, downloadable as a ZIP archive.
What is the difference between a barcode and a QR code?
Barcodes are one-dimensional (lines) and encode small amounts of data. QR codes are two-dimensional (squares) and can store URLs, text, and more. Generate QR codes with the QR Code Generator.
