Nagpur Junction — station code NGP — sits at the geographical center of India, marked by the famous Zero Mile Stone nearby. This location makes Nagpur a natural rail crossroads: the Howrah-Mumbai trunk route passes through here, and branch lines radiate to Hyderabad, Delhi (via Bhopal), and the northeast Vidarbha region.

The station is in central Nagpur, close to the city's historic Sitabuldi area. Nagpur — known as the Orange City for its mandarin oranges — is also the winter capital of Maharashtra and the headquarters of the Nagpur Division of Central Railway.

Station Layout

NGP has 8 platforms.

Platform assignments vary — check display boards. Tip 2: Nagpur oranges are in season from November to February. You'll find them sold on the platforms and outside the station. They're sweet, cheap (₹30–50/dozen), and make excellent travel snacks. Tip 3: If you're visiting Nagpur, Deekshabhoomi (Dr. Ambedkar's monument) and Sitabuldi Fort are must-sees. Both are within 3 km of the station. Tip 4: Nagpur summer temperatures hit 47°C+ (May-June). This is one of the hottest cities in India. Avoid platform waiting during peak afternoon hours.
