Secunderabad Junction (SC) — Complete Station Guide
Guide to Secunderabad Junction — Hyderabad's busiest railway station with 10 platforms, MMTS connections, metro access, and passenger facilities.
Secunderabad Junction — station code SC — is the principal railway station serving the Hyderabad metropolitan area. While Hyderabad Deccan (Nampally) exists, the vast majority of long-distance trains use Secunderabad. With 10 platforms, it's the busiest station in Telangana and the main hub for South Central Railway.
The station sits in the heart of Secunderabad, surrounded by the bustling Patny Centre, Regimental Bazaar, and the old cantonment area. The twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad are seamlessly merged now, so don't think of this station as being in a "different city" — it's just the northern part of greater Hyderabad.

Tip 1: Secunderabad is a junction, not a terminus. Trains pass through — your train may arrive from one direction and continue in another. Make sure you're on the correct side of the platform. Check the display board for departure direction. Tip 2: The station forecourt gets extremely congested during morning and evening peaks. If you're being dropped off by cab, ask the driver to drop you at the side entrance near platform 10 — it's far less chaotic. Tip 3: Platform 1 is the longest walk from the main entrance. Sounds counterintuitive, but the entrance leads to a concourse area and you have to walk the length of it to reach platform 1. Budget 10 minutes. Tip 4: Hyderabad summers (March–June) mean platform temperatures can hit 45°C. The covered portions of platforms are limited. Carry water, use the waiting rooms, and board as late as safely possible.Track your train live on IndianRail.app rather than standing in the heat watching the display board.
