Agra Cantt — station code AGC — is the primary station for anyone visiting the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, and the other Mughal-era monuments that make Agra one of India's most visited cities. Located in the Cantonment area, AGC is well-connected by trains from Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai, and beyond.

The Gatimaan Express from Delhi (India's first semi-high-speed train) terminates here, and multiple Shatabdi and express services make Agra an easy day trip from the capital.

AGC has 7 platforms.

Agra Cantt vs Agra Fort Station

  • Agra Cantt (AGC): Main station. Most long-distance and premium trains. Cantonment area.

  • Raja Ki Mandi (RKM): Another small station, used by some passenger trains.
AGC is the station for tourist visitors. Most Taj Mahal-bound travelers use AGC.

Medical

First aid center on platform 1. Tip 1: The Taj Mahal is closed on Fridays. Plan your visit accordingly. If you're arriving Friday, see Agra Fort and Itmad-ud-Daulah instead, and do the Taj on Saturday. Tip 2: If you're doing a day trip from Delhi, the Gatimaan Express (departs Delhi 8:10 AM, arrives Agra 9:50 AM) gives you a full day. Return Gatimaan departs Agra at 5:50 PM. Book well in advance. Tip 3: Beware of fake guides and "marble factory" scams. Auto drivers at AGC will try to take you to shops for commissions. Insist on going directly to your destination. Use the prepaid stand. Tip 4: Sunrise at the Taj is magical but requires early arrival. The Taj opens at sunrise. The East Gate has the shortest queue. Book tickets online in advance to skip the ticket line. Tip 5: Agra in summer (May-June) is punishing — 46°C+ with hot wind. Visit October-March for comfortable weather. If you must come in summer, visit the Taj at sunrise before the heat builds.

Check IndianRail.app for Gatimaan and Shatabdi running status before heading to the station.

Cloak Room

Near platform 1. Open 6 AM–10 PM. ₹30 per bag. Essential for day trippers who arrive with luggage from a different city.
