Essential Yatra Tips

  • Fitness: Kedarnath and Yamunotri involve serious treks (16 km and 6 km respectively). Start a walking regimen weeks before.
  • Altitude: Kedarnath (3,583m) and Badrinath (3,133m) are at significant altitude. Acclimatize properly — spend a night at intermediate elevations.
  • Weather: The Himalayan weather changes rapidly. Carry rain gear, warm layers, and sun protection regardless of forecast.
  • Registration: Mandatory biometric registration for Chota Char Dham at designated centers in Rishikesh, Haridwar, or Sonprayag. Register before starting.
  • Road conditions: Himalayan roads are challenging — landslides, narrow passes, and poor surfaces. Allow buffer days in your itinerary.
  • Helicopter booking: For Kedarnath, helicopter services book out weeks in advance during peak season. Book through the official UCADA or Pawan Hans websites.
