Weight & Mass Unit Converter — kg, lbs, oz, Grams, Stones
Convert weight and mass units fast — kilograms, pounds, ounces, grams, stones, and more. Includes a quick reference table for the most common conversions.
Weight conversions are one of those daily annoyances. You're reading a recipe that calls for 200 grams of flour, but your kitchen scale only shows ounces. Or you step on a scale in the UK and it shows "13 stone 4 lbs" and you have absolutely no frame of reference. Or you're tracking your body weight and the gym app shows kilograms while you've spent your whole life thinking in pounds.
The CalcHub weight converter takes care of all of it in one place.

What People Actually Need These For
Body weight is probably the number one use case. If you're 75 kg, that's about 165 lbs. If you're 180 lbs, that's roughly 81.6 kg. Doctors in different countries use different systems, so this comes up constantly for anyone who travels or uses international health apps. Cooking and baking is a close second. American recipes use cups and ounces; European recipes use grams. A common question: how many grams is 1 oz? Answer: 28.35 grams. For small amounts of spices or yeast, these differences actually matter. Shipping and postage is the third big one. Courier rates are based on weight, and international shipping often lists limits in both kg and lbs. Knowing that your 2.5 kg package is 5.5 lbs can help you pick the right shipping tier. How to Use CalcHub's Weight Converter

Common Mistakes to Avoid
Mixing up US tons and metric tonnes. A US short ton is 2,000 lbs (907 kg). A metric tonne is 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs). A UK long ton is 2,240 lbs. They sound the same, and they're definitely not. Forgetting that stone is a UK-specific unit. Outside of the UK and Ireland, almost nobody uses stone for body weight. If a British medical record says "12 stone 7," that's 12 × 14 + 7 = 175 pounds, or about 79.4 kg. Confusing fluid ounces and weight ounces. Fluid ounces measure volume. Weight ounces measure mass. A fluid ounce of water happens to weigh about 1 oz, but an ounce of honey or olive oil is a different story. The converters for these are separate for good reason. What's 100 grams in household terms?
A medium egg weighs about 50–60 grams. A regular chicken breast is typically 150–200 grams. A stick of butter is 113 grams. These rough comparisons help when you don't have a scale and need to estimate.
How do I convert kg to lbs without a calculator?
A rough mental trick: multiply kg by 2 and add 10%. So 70 kg × 2 = 140, plus 10% (14) = 154 lbs. The actual answer is 154.3 lbs. Close enough for most purposes.
Why do Americans use pounds instead of kilograms?
The US kept the imperial system when the metric system was being adopted globally in the late 18th and 19th centuries. A mix of political resistance, existing infrastructure, and trade habits locked it in. Some industries in the US (science, medicine, military) use metric internally anyway.
